  • What is Kitesurfing?

Kitesurfing is one the fastest growing extreme sports.  Kitesurfing is a surface water sport that utilizes power kites to pull the rider through the water while on a small surfboard.  The kitesurfer will stand on a surfboard while the wind catches his power kite to propel the rider through the water.

While being pulled along the ocean’s surface the kitesurfer is able to do tricks when catching air off of the waves.  There are a variety of board grabs that a kitesurfer can accomplish and will add variety to any kitesurfing session.  While kitesurfing is a very fast and exciting sport this extreme sport does not come without hazards.  Kitesurfing can be quite dangerous if one is not properly trained on how to maneuver the kiteboard or know how to stop traveling.  On a windy day kitesurfers can reach speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour!  Being able to stop is a very important thing to learn.

One of the newer extreme sports that is taking the world by storm is kitesurfing.  With the high speeds and flashy tricks a kitesurfer can accomplish it is no wonder why kitesurfing is a popular sport among the adrenaline junkies.  If you are going to take up the sport of kitesurfing it is highly recommended that you take lessons from a professional before going out into the open waters by yourself.
